From basket bags to PVC and grocery styles, there are plenty of silhouettes to choose from this season.

But if there’s one “it” bag worth investing in, it’s a style that promises to take you right back to your childhood: the beaded bag.

An easy way to update your look for the new season, this nostalgic number is anything but boring and promises to elevate your aesthetic to playful new heights.

Practical? Hardly, but these pint-sized bags covered in pearlised beads prove that statement accessories rule.

Its return to the fashion fold is credited to British brand Shrimps which launched its pearl-adorned Antonia bag back in 2016.

Ever since then it has dominated the street style scene with the likes of Pandora Sykes, Camille Charriere and Lorna Luxe all flaunting theirs on Instagram.

But with a £450 price tag and the fact that it sells out every time it gets restocked, you’ll be lucky to get your hands on one.

Alternatively, there are the colourful creations of New York-based designer Susan Alexandra that come adorned with everything from retro cherries to rainbow beads and watermelon-shaped designs.

But if you’re looking for something more affordable, luckily the high street has been quick to launch beaded styles of its own.

Head to Topshop, Zara or Mango and you’ll be spoilt for choice, with displays that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the Nineties.
