Mick Jagger donates fund to Central Saint Martins in memory of L'Wren Scott

Mick Jagger has made a donation for a scholarship in L'Wren Scott's memory.

Mick Jagger has made a donation to London fashion school Central Saint Martins in memory of his long-term partner L'Wren Scott.

Jagger's donation will create a three-year scholarship programme in memory of the late designer.

"I am very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package, gifted by Mick Jagger in L'Wren Scott's name," Fabio Piras the course director of MA Fashion commented to Vogue.

"Our students sacrifice much to take up this course and work extremely hard while they are here. I am very proud of the fact that this course, through its alumni, continues to be recognised as a major contributor to the future of the global fashion industry."

The scholarship will be awarded to one MA student to cover course fees and some living expenses.

Scott began her career in fashion as model where she worked with brands such as Chanel and Calvin Klein before beginning work as a stylist.

In 2006 she turned her hand to fashion design with her debut catwalk collection which focused on black dresses.

Her designs were worn by many A-list stars including Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman and Penelope Cruz who selected her designs to wear to the Oscars.

Scott, 49, was found dead in her New York home in March last year having committed suicide.

Tributes were paid to Scott from across the fashion industry:

"She dazzled her fans with her charming vivacity as much as her exquisitely embroidered dresses. I am proud to have known her and have been able to call her one of my closest friends" commented Milliner, Stephen Jones.

"I had the pleasure of doing the hair for her last two London shows, which were pure unadulterated glamour; and that is how I'll remember her - the ultimate glamour girl. We'll miss you L'Wren" said hair stylist Sam McKnight.

Bruce Weber told WWD:

"I adored L'Wren the moment I met her, took her picture and told her she was so special - she'll find her way in Paris. And she did. Ever since then I used to tease her that she had the most beautiful legs I had ever seen on any girl. I used to call her 'Pretty Legs'."
