Roast Tips with Stuart Cauldwell

Borough Market's Roast Restaurant is championing the traditional home-cooked Sunday Roast, as most Brits claim it’s "too complicated and time consuming" to cook.

It has long been a meal synonymous with British culture, cooked up in kitchens across the country on Sundays, but a home-cooked roast dinner could now be a thing of the past, as a whopping 38 per cent of 18-34 year olds admit to never having cooked one.

And so Roast Restaurant is putting its 12 years’ experience in serving up some of the best roasts in the capital to good use, with the aim of reigniting the nation's love affair with the humble roast dinner.

Head chef Stuart Cauldwell has unveiled a collection of top tips that will help you perfect those all-important timings and serve up a fuss-free fabulous feast, just in time for the festive season.

In this video, Cauldwell answers some of the frequently asked questions about roasting.

As most Brits admit to using shortcuts, Cauldwell advises how to get your roast just right at home – from roasting potatoes in goose fat to caramelising vegetables for gravy, a roast as done by Roast is guaranteed to impress guests.

In an ultimate bid to solve the nation’s roasting troubles, Cauldwell himself will now be just a phone call away in the form of the brand new Roast to the Rescue Hotline, launching Sunday, 19 November.

The line personally guides roasters in distress through the process, live from the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. Cauldwell will be on hand every Sunday to answer roasting queries and get timings down to a tee.

Roast to the Rescue Hotline Number is 02037635324 and is available Sundays from 9am until 5pm.
