Doctors should tell people they are fat rather than obese so the message gets through, a health minister said.

Anne Milton said the term "fat" was more likely to motivate them to lose weight, adding it was important people took "responsibility" for their lifestyles.

She told the BBC: "If I think I am obese I am less worried [than] if I think I am fat."
