John Legend dedicates emotional performance to Chrissy Teigen after pregancy loss

John Legend has shared a heartfelt tribute to his wife Chrissy Teigen on Instagram, two weeks after the couple experienced pregnancy loss.

On Friday, the singer shared a video of his recent performance of the song “Never Break” at the Billboard Music Awards, which he dedicated to Teigen on the night.

Alongside the video, Legend penned a lengthy caption in which he said how much he is in “awe” of his wife and opened up about the “inherent fragility” of pregnancy.

“This is for Chrissy. I love and cherish you and our family so much. We’ve experienced the highest highs and lowest lows together,” Legend wrote.

“Watching you carry our children has been so moving and humbling. I’m in awe of the strength you’ve shown through the most challenging moments. What an awesome gift it is to be able to bring life into the world. We’ve experienced the miracle, the power and joy of this gift, and now we’ve deeply felt its inherent fragility.”

The singer went on to explain that he wrote the song “Never Break” because he knew they would always be there for each other “through every tear and through every test”.

“We promised each other this on our wedding day seven years ago, and every challenge we’ve faced has made that promise more powerful, more resilient,” he added. “Our love will remain. We will never break.”

Legend concluded the post by thanking his followers for sending their well wishes to the couple, especially those who have shared their own stories of pregnancy loss.

“It’s a club no one wants to be a part of, but it’s comforting to know we’re not alone,” he wrote.

“I’m sure Chrissy will have much more to say about this when she’s ready. But just know we’re grateful and we’re sending love to all of you and your families.”

On October 1, Teigen announced the loss of the couple’s third child, Jack, by sharing a series of photos on Instagram which were taken in the immediate aftermath.

The model had previously revealed that she suffered excessive bleeding during her pregnancy, for which she had to be hospitalised.

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote in the announcement.

“We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”

The couple have two other children, four-year-old daughter Luna and two-year-old son Miles.
