Katy Perry shares a sonogram of daughter that appears to show baby putting up middle finger

Katy Perry has posted an ultrasound scan in which her baby appears to put up her middle finger.

Earlier this year, Perry announced that she and her fiancé Orlando Bloom are expecting their first child together, revealing in April that they are going to have a baby girl.

To mark Mother's Day in the US on Sunday 10 May, Perry shared a video on Instagram of a recent sonogram she underwent, providing her 95.8m followers with a glimpse of her baby.

In the video, the person conducting the scan can be heard informing the singer that the baby’s hand is visible on screen, before pointing out that she is putting up her middle finger in the womb.

“She is literally giving me the middle finger,” Perry says in response, laughing with the medical practitioner.

In her Instagram caption, the musician speculated how her baby’s character may develop when she grows up.

“When your unborn daughter gives you a middle finger from the womb you know you’re in for it,” the 35-year-old said.

The “Roar” singer added the hashtag “#happymothersdaytome” in her caption, in addition to a flushed face emoji.

She also mockingly edited the location on the video to state: “Middle Finger Up.”

Several of Perry’s celebrity followers commented underneath the post, including singer Rita Ora, fashion designer Misha Nonoo and fashion photographer Mert Alas.

“Just like her mama,” wrote Ora, while Alas said: “Hahahah omg genius.”

“As my mother would say, ‘Paying for your raising’,” added journalist and author Derek Blasberg.

On Monday 4 May, the 2020 Met Gala should have taken place at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.

However, the event was “postponed indefinitely” in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Perry shared a photograph on Instagram of the ensemble she would have worn for the fashion spectacle, revealing that she would have donned a cone bra creation by Jean Paul Gaultier, complete with a baby bump design.
