Justin Timberlake has apologised to his wife Jessica Biel for a “strong lapse in judgement” after he was pictured holding hands with another woman during a night out.
On Wednesday, the singer and actor shared a post on Instagram in which he admitted he “should have known better”.
Timberlake blamed drinking too much alcohol after he was photographed hand in hand with Alisha Wainwright in New Orleans, where they have both been filming the upcoming movie Palmer .
The former NSYNC singer added that he regretted his behaviour and that it “is not the example I want to set for my son” – referring to his only child with Biel, four-year-old Silas.
“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumours that are hurting the people I love,” Timberlake wrote.

Biel, who married Timberlake in 2012, is yet to comment on the photographs which were taken last month.
However, a representative for Wainwright has insisted that any interaction between the pair was completely innocent.
“There is no validity to this speculation. They are currently working on a project together. Members of the cast and crew were all together,” a spokesperson told People magazine.
