Paris Hilton has said calling off her engagement to Chris Zylka was the “best decision” of her life.

The hotel heiress dated the actor for two years and announced their engagement in January 2018 during a ski trip to Aspen, Colarado.

Hilton shared photographs of the proposal on Instagram at the time, revealing Zylka had given her a 20-carat engagement ring thought to be worth $2m.

The 39-year-old captioned the post: “I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! You are my dream come true! Thank you for showing me that fairytales do exist.”

The following October, it was revealed that Hilton and Zylka had split up.

Now, speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, Hilton was asked whether or not she regretted the breakup.

“No. It was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life,” she replied.

“I just don’t think [he] was the right person and I feel like I’m an incredible woman and I deserve someone so amazing.

“It just didn’t feel right. I’ve worked way too hard to just give my life to someone. They have to be perfect.”

Hilton went on to explain that she is enjoying being single.

“It feels good to not have someone controlling me,” she said.

“With dating certain people, [there’s the risk of] not trusting them and the fear [that] if I go out of town they might do something to embarrass me. I feel lucky now to not have that fear because I’m independent.”
