Ford GT: Demand outstrips supply by 2800% after online sales portal goes live

Ford is only making 250 GTs a year, so someone’s going to be kept busy sifting through 7000 applications

Ford recently launched an online configurator for the new GT. This invites would-be customers to explain why they’re worthy of owning one – which appears to have been a wise strategy, because more than 7000 applications have been received.

Given that Ford will only be making 250 GTs a year, someone’s going to be kept quite busy sifting through that lot.

We don’t know how many of the applications came from the UK. It’s safe to assume, however, that with less than twenty expected to come here in the first year, there’ll be plenty of people who have to settle for something cheaper. Like a Ferrari F12 or Lambo Aventador.

Cheaper? Believe it. The first lucky punters will take delivery of their exclusive retro-styled supercars later this year – having first parted with what’s expected to be just shy of £400,000.
