The official Buckingham Palace gin launched by the Royal Collection Trust has sold out online within eight hours of its release.
It was recently announced that Buckingham Palace had created its own signature gin, made with ingredients sourced from the garden of the Queen's London residence.
The £40 bottle of 42 per cent ABV gin was made available on the Royal Collection Trust shop website , with all profits going towards the organisation, which looks after the royal art collection and oversees all public openings of the Queen’s official residences.
The news of the spirit's release appears to have tickled the taste buds of many members of the public, with the product selling out online within a mere eight hours.
A spokesperson for the Trust said the organisation is "delighted with the response" the gin has had.
Following the immense interest the gin has received online, another order has been placed with the supplier.
The spirit should come back into stock on the Royal Collection Trust website in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, customers can register their interest on the site if they wish to purchase a bottle.
When the gin becomes available again, those who have registered will be notified so they can add it to their basket right away.
From next week, the gin will also be available to purchase from the Royal Collection shops, when royal sites including Windsor Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace and the Queen's Galleries in London and Edinburgh reopen to members of the public on 23 July.
(Royal Collection Trust/Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 2020/PA Wire (Royal Collection Trust/Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 2020/PA Wire) The Trust hopes that profits from sales of the gin will help give the organisation a boost while it copes with its “greatest challenge” it has ever experienced financially.
The charity has predicted losses of over £30m over the course of the next year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to being sold to the public, the Buckingham Palace gin, which features a coronet and sketch of the royal residence on the bottle, will be served at future official events at the Palace.
