Traditionally it’s Paris that’s the city of love, but London has got an awful lot to offer for any couple looking to share a romantic day together. Why not spoil your special one with a trip to the UK’s romance capital?

London truly is a fantastic city, a veritable smorgasbord of entertainment, shopping, culture and sightseeing. It’s an eclectic place and the likelihood is that London will be able to offer something for everyone. For the budding Casanova, a trip around London can also be incredibly romantic; with a multitude of spots capable of making your girl swoon.

First things first, you’ll need to get there. Given that you’l l probably want a glass or two of bubbly or some fine red wine, we recommend you take the train. Train tickets to London are increasingly affordable, especially if you book in advance. You can even have a couple’s brunch-style picnic on the way up to the big smoke.

For sightseeing, it’s best to arrive at Waterloo; to get there, the easiest thing to do is to buy train tickets prior to your travel and pick them up at the station.

Picnic in the park

London has many picturesque places where a couple in love can share some finger food and a glass or two of champagne. Head to Richmond Park in West London and enjoy the deer whilst chilling out together on your picnic blanket. If you prefer a bit of history, head to Green Park and have a cuddle in the leafy area before or after visiting Buckingham Palace. If you want to go a bit further out, head to Hampstead Heath and have a lovely romantic walk there before heading to one of the many nice pubs that Hampstead has to offer.

Tour the river

If you’re an energetic couple, why not grab a tandem and cycle down the Southbank? If you’re less into propelling yourself and more into being propelled, there are all sorts of river tours that provide you with an educational expedition along the Thames. London can be pretty chilly in February, and this could provide you with a perfect excuse to cuddle up to each other for warmth.

Take her to a show

London is famous for its shows and you can plant yourself firmly in her good books if you take her to the theatre. Why not combine it with a pre-theatre dinner? Those dim lights give you a great chance to hold hands and whisper sweet nothings.

Take her out for a fabulous dinner

The old cliché is that a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach but many of us will have experienced that this adage is true for either gender. Make a statement with dinner at a classy restaurant or take her for a themed dinner – At Dans Le Noir you dine in the dark, which is a great chance for you to really connect through conversation.

Our guidelines should help people with all sorts of budgets, but remember you can save a lot of money on travel. For cheap train tickets to London that you’re looking for, it’s best to book in advance to save money. You can spend your savings on making sure your loved one has a day to remember!
