October's new car sales move into top gear
New car sales roared ahead last month, according to official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
A total of 134,944 new cars were registered in October – a 2.6 per cent rise on the same month in 2010. However, sales are still down against the first 10 months of last year, which was boosted by the car scrappage scheme.
