Stanhope wins town centre deal
The long-awaited redevelopment of the town centre of Crawley, West Sussex, took a step forward yesterday, when the local council recommended developer Stanhope as its development partner.
The town suffered a setback when Grosvenor ended its plan to redevelop the 1950s-designed town centre last year.
The new scheme will be scaled down to about 500,000 square feet.
Stanhope which is also working on a town-centre project in Hereford, beat rival developers Centros, part of Delancey, with joint venture partner Development Securities, and the Australian property company Lend Lease, for the scheme.
