ELIZABETH WADE, one of Martin Taylor's confidantes during his last year as chief executive at Barclays Bank, has moved to Makinson Cowell, an independent investor relations consultancy.

Ms Wade, originally an analyst with BZW, rose to be head of corporate communications and investor relations at Barclays, until she left last year after Mr Taylor's exit. She has certainly landed on her feet - Makinson Cowell is reckoned to be one of the best investor relations advisers in the City.

And one of its most important clients is Barclays.
