Sir Elton John has ended an eight-year feud with his mother Sheila Farebrother.

The entertainer confirmed the pair got back in touch ahead of his mother’s 90th birthday party, where he performed.

Mother and son fell out in 2008 over her refusal to cut ties with Bob Halley and John Reid - two of Sir Elton’s oldest friends - after he fell out with them.

Mr Halley had worked as a driver and personal assistant for Sir Elton for 30 years and Mr Reid spent 28 years as his manager.

They were fired in 2008 to make way for a series of changes the singer was making to his team, Mirror Online reports.

Ms Farebrother said last year she had “got used to” not speaking to her son and said it was “all so stupid - so petty”.

She is also believed to have blamed Sir Elton’s husband David Furnish for turning her son against her.

Commenting on the news, Sir Elton said: “Out of respect for my mother’s privacy, I have always shied away from speaking publicly about our relationship.

“However, I can say that we are now back in touch and have been so since my mother’s 90th birthday.

“I won’t be commenting further on this.”
