OITNB actress says Swift will get past row with 'Kimye'

Uzo Aduba has weighed into the furore surrounding her friend Taylor Swift's fallout with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian-West.

After Kardashian-West released clips of a phone call between her husband and Swift discussing his song “Famous” on Snapchat on Sunday evening, everyone had something to say on the matter. The Snapchat was another apparent development in the long-standing rift between the “Shake It Off” singer and the "Goldigga" rapper after months of back and forth over whether Swift approved lyrics about herself in "Famous".

Shortly after Kardashian-West’s Snapchat was released, #KimExposedTaylorParty party began trending on Twitter. Several of the 26-year-old’s friends and “squad members” including Selena Gomez, Martha Hunt and her childhood best friend Abigail Anderson leapt to Swift’s defence. Khloe Kardashian also waded in to defend her sister and brother-in-law.

Now, Aduba, who is part of the singer’s now infamous-in-pop-culture “squad” and was recently heavily featured in multiple Instagrams of Swift’s 4th July party, has also publically supported her “strong” friend.

Asked by Vanity Fair whether Swift will “get past this nasty battle” with Kardashian-West and West, the Orange Is The New Black actress replied: “She will. She’s a beautiful person and strong.”

When the song was first heard in February, Swift denied approving lyrics about herself. When Kardashian-West told GQ months later there was a recording of her allegedly approving the song, Swift maintained she never heard the song nor the lyric: "I made that b**** famous". The recordings released by Kardashian-West appear to show West reciting some of the lyrics to Swift except the line referring to her as "that b****". Following the Snapchat, Swift claims she was secretly recorded and has accused the couple of “character assassination”.

“Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination. I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009,” she wrote.
