Alan Barnes, the disabled pensioner who was left injured and terrified after being mugged outside his home, has been presented with a cheque for £330,000.
Katie Cutler, 21, who lives near to Mr Barnes' Gateshead home, started an online fund to raise money to help him move house after he was left too traumatised to face returning home after the attack.
As news of his ordeal spread, donations poured in until Mr Barnes' family asked for fundraising efforts to be halted once they had reached £330,145.
Mr Barnes, 67, who is visually impaired and just 4ft 6in tall, suffered a broken collar bone during the incident outside his home in Low Fell, on 25 January. He was allegedly pushed to the ground as he moved his wheelie bin.

Richard Gatiss, 25, from Gateshead, appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody after being charged with assaulting Mr Barnes, with intent to rob. He will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on February 24.
