Four teenagers arrested after high-speed chase in London finally ended by armed police

Four teenagers had to be dragged from their car by police at gun point after a high-speed chase through London.

Footage filmed by passers-by show the moment their Audi convertible attempted to ram its way through stationary traffic.

After police officers armed with automatic rifles penned them in, they were forced to smash the windows with their weapons and then drag the youngsters out to the street.

All four have now been arrested.

They were wanted in connection with a robbery at knife-point on Friday. But when officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Saturday morning, the group fled, sparking a 10-mile chase across London.

The incident began in Enfield in North London, but the Audi was not finally stopped until it got caught in traffic in Loughton in the east of the city.

Footage shared widely on social media shows the black Audi trying to force its way through stationary cars waiting at traffic lights, crashing into several, while police try to stop it without being run over.

After they became pinned between a car and a lorry armed police arrive on the scene.

But although the officers pointed their rifles at the driver and passenger, while screaming at them to get out of the car, the two teenagers in the front refuse to move.

One officer then smashes the window with his gun before another reaches in to drag the reluctant youth out and on to the ground.

More armed police arrive and can be seen screaming at the passengers left in the back of the car, both girls.

Several other officers can also be seen running to the scene of the crashed car. A police helicopter was also scrambled to support the officers on the ground.

London's Metropolitan Police said all four in the car were now in police custody.

One boy, aged 15 and named only as “A” was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking and driving away of a vehicle, as well as possession of an offensive weapon.

Anther boy, also aged 15 and named as “B”, was also arrested on suspicion aggravated taking and driving away of a vehicle, and on suspicion of robbery.

The two girls, both aged 14, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and allowing themselves to be carried in a vehicle without the owner's consent.
