Stephen Beadman, 28, has been charged with the murder of 15-year-old schoolgirl Kayleigh Haywood, Leicestershire Police have said.

He has also been charged with one count of rape.

A second man, Luke Harlow, 27, has been charged with grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a child.

Both men have been remanded in custody and will appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Kayleigh's body was found in a field in Ibstock around 10pm on Wednesday.

She had not been seen since around 6pm on Friday, when she was dropped off outside Ibstock Community College in Central Avenue.

At the time, Chief Superintendent David Sandall said: "We have discovered a body in a field. While formal identification has yet to take place, Kayleigh's family are aware of the discovery and enquiries are continuing."

A friend of Kayleigh's told the Daily Mail she had arranged to meet a man who had been messaging her on Facebook.

As the investigation turned into a murder probe, Kayleigh's Facebook account was being examined by officers investigating her disappearance and police widened a large-scale search to an area of agricultural land in Belton, around 10 miles away from the teenager's home.

A mobile phone belonging to Kayleigh was recovered in Ibstock and undisclosed items of clothing thought to be linked to her were found in both Ibstock and Diseworth.
