London's Tower Bridge shut after person spotted climbing structure
Police close off landmark as they ‘deal with person who has climbed the structure’
Tower Bridge was closed off by police after a person was seen scaling the structure.
City of London Police said the landmark had been shut shortly after 11.30am on Wednesday while officers “deal with a person who has climbed the structure”.
Images shared on Twitter showed a person, who appeared to be a man, clinging to the side of the bridge.
Police stopped traffic in both directions as officers reportedly attempted to talk to him.
The force tweeted an update almost an hour later to say the bridge had reopened.
A spokesperson said: “The bridge has now been reopened. Thank you for your patience.”
