Tribute to teenage girl killed by train

Tributes were paid today to an aspiring teenage model killed by a train yards from her home.

Gabby Joseph, 16, of Briton Ferry, near Swansea, dreamed of a high-profile career as a model.

Shocked family and friends are in mourning after she was killed on a stretch of track close to her home on Easter Monday.

While police are not treating her death as suspicious, mystery surrounds a final message apparently left on her Facebook page.

Her grandfather, Dennis Gammon, confirmed a message, now deleted, had been left on his granddaughter's Facebook page.

His words follow comments made to the media by his daughter, Carolyn Gammon, the teenager's aunt.

She urged youngsters not to express their feelings on websites but to talk to people face-to-face instead.

"I have not seen the message. It was a personal message to her friends and it has been deleted," a clearly emotional Mr Gammon said.

"I don't think anyone would want to speak about it. It was personal," he added.

The teenager was hit by a Milford Haven to Cardiff train near Briton Ferry station at around 9.30pm.

British Transport Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death and a file will be sent to the coroner.

Friends have left tributes on the Model Mayhem website of which the teenager was a member.

Her personal page lists 114 friends all linked to the world of modelling and photography.

It also contains a plea for help in improving her portfolio and carries the quote: "In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different."

Devastated friends also posted their own tributes on the site as news of her death spread.

Maria King, listed as a model, wrote: "Rest In Peace beautiful Angel. You and your family are in my thoughts. A stunningly beautiful girl.. Such a terrible shame.... You Will never be forgotten."

Ross McMaster, a photographer, said: "Rest in peace Gab, you beautiful girl. You will be missed so much, but never EVER forgotten! xxx."

Joe Fong, another photographer, wrote simply: "So beautiful and young, rest in peace."
