Funeral tribute to East End woman from 'simple family'

Shahara Islam, 20, from Plaistow, east London, died in the explosion on the No 30 bus as she travelled to work. In a statement, her family paid tribute to her: "She was an East Ender, a Londoner and British, but above all, a true Muslim and proud to be so. She was a simple girl, from a simple family who led a simple life. Unfortunately she was at the wrong place at the wrong time on that unfortunate day."

The death toll rose after Sam Ly, from Melbourne, died in hospital. He was believed to have been on the bus. And police have found another victim from the Piccadilly line blast between King's Cross and Russell Square, bringing the total death toll to 54.

Yesterday, the Inner North London coroner, Dr Andrew Reid, opened and adjourned inquests into 15 deaths.Arthur Frederick, 60, of Seven Sisters, north London, died in the King's Cross blast, and Anat Rosenberg, 39, a charity worker from Israel, was believed to have been killed on the bus.

Another victim was Marie Hartley, 34, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, who was married with two children. She was in London on a course when she got on the bus. And Giles Hart, 55, of Hornchurch, Essex, a BT engineer, also married and with two children, died at Aldgate.

James Mayes, 28, an analyst for the Healthcare Commission, is believed to have been killed at King's Cross, and Behnaz Mozakka, 47, from Finchley, north London, a biomedical officer, is also believed to have died there.

Lee Baisdan, 34, an accountant from Romford, Essex, is thought to have died at Aldgate, and Mike Matsushita, 37, a Vietnamese-American former tour guide, was in the Piccadilly line bombing. Phil Beer, 22, a hairstylist from Boreham Wood, Hertfordshire, is thought to have been killed at King's Cross, and Adrian Johnson, 37, a manager from Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, is also thought to have died at that station.

One victim was named as Anne Moffat, with no further details. Richard Ellery, a 21-year-old shopworker from Ipswich was last seen at Liverpool Street, and Gladys Wundowa, 50, of Ilford, east London, a charity worker is believed to have died on the bus, as is Neetu Jain, 37, a computer analyst from Hendon, north London.Gamze Gunoral, 24, a student from Turkey, is also believed to have died in a Tube bombing.

Jonathan Downey, 34, from Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, an HR systems development officer, is thought to have died in the Edgware Road bombing, as is David Foulkes, 22, from Oldham, Greater Manchester. And Sam Badham, 36, of Ledbury, Hertfordshire is missing, feared dead. Her partner, Lee Harris, 30, is in hospital with multiple injuries from the Piccadilly line blast.
