Frozen chook: Naked people are pretending to be chickens in public
It's as simple as stripping down, curling up, and taking a snap
If you thought planking was bizarre, let us introduce you to the frozen chook: where naked people pretend to be frozen chicken carcasses in public.
Nowhere seems to be safe from people stripping down and curling up in the foetal position like supermarket-ready poultry.
The harsh tarmac of a road, the breath-taking landscape of Lyttleton Harbour in New Zealand, and the path to a KFC are all chosen settings for people who have bravely – or stupidly – cast aside their clothes and adopted the stance of a dead chicken.

Like planking and other fads which followed, the unspoken aim is to pose without looking at the camera, to create the impression that being a frozen chook is prefectly normal.
It is unclear when the phenomenon started, but the term “chook” is often used in Australia and New Zealand.

The Frozen Chook Facebook page, which was started on 6 October, appears to have been set up in New Zealand.
But it looks like the craze has already spread to the UK, with one blurry entry showing a person curled up atop a Lincoln University sign, as shown above.
