Bernie Sanders' digital team reveal loophole for people to phone Donald Trump's White House

The White House has shut down its public comment line, meaning callers are instead greeted with an automated message telling them to get in touch via Facebook

Since Donald Trump has been sworn in as President, it has become increasingly difficult to get through to the White House via phone. According to a press assistant, this is because they are “still learning how to work” their computers.

But Bernie Sanders digital campaign team has an alternative solution. Revolution Messaging, who were in charge of Sanders press and online fundraising, launched WhiteHouseInc.org last year.

The site asks you to enter your email and phone number and then immediately connects you with one of Mr Trump’s properties. It is totally random which of the billionaire’s properties it will connect you to and they can be located anywhere in the world.

“You may be asked to make a reservation or a tee-time, but tell management that until Trump steps away from his businesses for real, their property is no different from the Oval Office and you want to talk about the issues that matter most,” WhiteHouseInc suggests on its website.

It then suggests a number of issues to bring up with the President’s businesses. These include his plans to repeal Obamacare, build a wall on the US border with Mexico, and others.

It suggests his resorts, hotels and clubs are “satellite White Houses all over the world”.

For the moment, the White House has shut down its public comment line, meaning callers are instead greeted with an automated message telling them to get in touch with the corridors of power via Facebook instead. However, there is a slight problem in the sense that neither the White House administration nor President Trump currently keeps an active Facebook messenger account up and running.

What’s more, the message provides few details about whether callers should use the official White House Facebook page or Mr Trump’s Facebook page. The press office told the LA Times it is not a permanent change.

It is not clear when the comment line was turned off but reports suggest it might have been initially turned off during the last few weeks of Barack Obama’s presidency.

A representative for Mr Trump did not immediately respond to request for comment.
