Florida man steals tractor, fights police officer and gets tasered

A Florida man who stole a tractor and proceeded to fight with his arresting police officer before being tasered has been charged by local law enforcement.

Charles Nicholas McNeil, who is 28, was spotted weaving on-and-off the road on a tractor by a Washington County Police deputy on Friday.

He was pulled over by the officer for his erratic driving style. McNeil went on to provide police with a false name and was found in possession of a knife and a prescription medication bottle containing pills.

“When the deputy began to detain McNeil, he turned away and aggressively attempted to flee,” police said in a statement. “As the deputy continued to apprehend McNeil, the suspect violently struggled with the deputy, hitting the deputy as he attempted to pick the deputy up and slam him to the ground.”

Making a bid for freedom, McNeil sprinted down Douglas Ferry Road before being tasered, hitting his head and falling unconscious.

When McNeil regained consciousness he provided the officer with his correct name and date of birth.

McNeil is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, providing a false name to law enforcement, and unauthorised possession of prescription drugs.
