A woman who was reportedly enraged by “fancy white people” is currently on the run after allegedly attacking a man with a hammer before smashing his Porsche and boat in the US.

Angela M Jones is wanted for questioning by police on hate crime charges after she allegedly attacked a man at a Virginia petrol station when he and his wife stopped for fuel.

The man, identified only as “Bob”, had been driving from Florida to their home in Massachusetts while hauling their boat on the back of their car when a young, black woman, identified by police as Jones, began screaming at them.

He told local news station WTVR: “This lady was a couple pumps over and talking to me and yelling at somebody about having a message for her. I had no idea what she was talking about.

“I was coming around the side of the car and next thing I know a car blocks me in.

“She comes out of her car gets in my face and yelling at me about some sort of message I got for her.”

He said he initially attempted to ignore her but she threatened to damage his “fancy boat” and grabbed a hammer.

Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa said Jones then began hitting the car and the boat before Bob intervened.

“She actually clawed him. He took her down to the ground to prevent her from doing any more damage”, he said.

His wife, identified as “Kathy”, then returned from the bathroom during the attack and Jones allegedly directed “racial slurs” at her.

Sheriff Lippa said: "According to the victim, there were racial slurs that were yelled at her before she spit at her and that’s what we’re looking into as far as it being a hate crime."

The couple said Jones had claimed she was “sick of fancy white people”.

During the argument a witness took a photograph of her car, leading police to identify the owner as Jones – who is from Newark in New Jersey.

New Jersey State Police have been contacted in the search for the 26-year-old who is wanted on charges of malicious wounding, assault and destruction of property.
