Anthony Joshua suffered the first defeat of his career as Andy Ruiz Jr shocked the world with a seventh round knockout victory.
Joshua started the fight slowly and sat behind his jab for the first two rounds but was forced to engage in a chaotic third, flash knocking Ruiz down but the American-Mexican was able to quickly respond with his own flurry of punches, knocking Joshua down twice.
Despite recovering to make it through rounds four, five and six with both men seemingly taking a breather, the seventh was one that will never be forgotten.
Ruiz was able to land heavily on Joshua and sent the former unified heavyweight champion to the canvas, before sending him back down on his back for a fourth time.
Despite Joshua beating the count once again, he was unable to convince referee Mike Griffin he was fit to continue and the bout was waved off.

After the incredible seven-rounder, Joshua was his usual humble self in defeat.
“Boxing’s a tough sport. I trained hard, stayed dedicated.
“It’ll be interesting to see how he does. Fighter at heart, boxer by trade. He done well, everyone’s come out to a good night of boxing.
“When your legs are all over the gaff you try to stabilise your mind. With me, they can’t box with me so they just look for the big shots.
“We put together a strong team and I’m the first to take a loss. We’ll bounce back.
“I’ve got to get that solid armoury. Congratulations to him, every fighter deserves respect. I respect every fighter. This is part of the legacy and story, I look forward to seeing where I went wrong.
“He’s the champ for now. I shall return.”
Ruiz’s victory makes him the first Mexican to ever win a heavyweight title – and his delight was clear to see.
“I want to thank God for giving me this victory. Without him, this wouldn’t be possible.
“I feel so good, I can’t believe I just made my dreams come true. I want to thank my whole team.
“The sky is the limit baby!”
