Ryder spurs Black Caps to win

Half-centuries from Jesse Ryder and Martin Guptill helped New Zealand to keep alive their Champions Trophy chances with a comfortable 38-run victory over Sri Lanka at Wanderers Stadium yesterday.

Ryder, who has since been ruled out of the tournament with a groin injury, blasted 74 from 58 balls and helped the Black Caps post 315 for 7.

The Sri Lankans eventually perished with 277 all out in 46.4 overs, thanks largely to Mahela Jayawardene (77) and Nuwan Kulasekara (57 not out).

Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Yousuf shared a record fourth-wicket stand as Pakistan beat India by 54 runs on Saturday to reach the Champions Trophy semi-finals. Pakistan compiled 302 for 9 before restricting their arch-rivals to 248 all out.

The victory led Pakistan to the top of Group A with four points from two matches, ahead of Australia on two.

Australia beat West Indies by 50 runs after scoring 275 for 8.
