Usain Bolt admits he was shocked when Yohan Blake missed out on Commonwealth Games 100 metres gold.

Triple Olympic sprint champion Bolt watched fellow Jamaican Blake stumble in Monday's final and have to settle for bronze with South Africa's Akani Simbine taking the title.

Bolt, speaking at a Gold Coast press conference, said: "It was a bit shocking. Blake stumbled a little bit and then panicked. It was just one of those things. It happens."

Bolt admitted he had teased Blake pre-Games telling him not to return to Jamaica if he did not win the sprint gold.

"I went to see him before he came to Australia at the (training) track and I did say that but it was just a joke. I haven't texted him. I am waiting until I go to the (athletes') village to see him. I am definitely going to make fun of him."

Asked if it was difficult for Blake to cope with pressure of having to follow in his footsteps, Bolt replied: "We have competed against each other for years. I personally think he understands the pressure but I will bring it up when I see him. I will make fun of him first though."

Bolt will be presenting medals at the Carrara Stadium during tonight's athletics programme and he admitted it will be strange to be giving out medals instead of receiving them.

"It should be weird. I don't know what to say. I will try to think of something smart to say."
