Karim Benzema relaxed about competition at Real Madrid

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema insists he is not concerned by the possibility of the Spanish giants bringing in attacking reinforcements this summer.

Madrid coach Jose Mourinho admits he wants another striker to add to his squad for next season, with Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain currently his only senior recognised centre-forwards.

The likes of Neymar, Sergio Aguero and Emmanuel Adebayor - who spent the second half of last season on loan at Madrid - have all been closely linked with a move to the Bernabeu, but Benzema is not worried about any increased competition.

"It's normal that Madrid want to sign the best players in the world. I'm going to work hard to be able to play. I'm 100%. It's not a problem for me that they want to sign strikers," said the France international who struggled to impress initially at Madrid following his big-money move from Lyon in 2009 but ended up with 26 goals in all competitions last season.

He added in the Spanish press: "I have a very high level of confidence. I'm going to work hard and succeed."

Benzema has also been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but the 23-year-old is not thinking about quitting the Bernabeu.

"I've not spoken with anybody. I'm at Madrid and I want to succeed here. Nothing more. I'm at Madrid, which is the important thing," he said from the club's summer tour to the United States.

Regarding his relationship with Mourinho, Benzema said: "It's very good, there's no problem with him, he's a great coach for me. Last season was good for me because I scored a lot of goals. He always helps me."
