Neymar at PSG: I came here for a new challenge

Neymar will always be an option for Barcelona, the club’s sporting director Eric Abidal has said.

The Brazilian departed the Spanish champions in 2017 for Paris Saint-Germain, but was heavily linked with a return to Barcelona in the summer.

While a deal could not be agreed during the transfer window, Neymar is believed to remain keen on a return, and Abidal says a player of his abilities is always a target.

“A top player, who has a Barca philosophy and who is performing at a high level, will always be an option,” Abidal said when asked about Neymar by Mundo Deportivo.

“From there, at the sports level we can make decisions, but the whole financial issue, there are things that you can reach and others that you cannot.

“The future will say. If it continues at this level, because the season is very long, I will not say that it will be option number 1 but it can be a clear option.”

Neymar has been out since suffering a thigh injury on international duty with Brazil last month.

PSG are hoping he will be fit for their clash with Lille on November 22.

The French giants then face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on November 26 hoping to keep their perfect Champions League campaign going after winning their first four group fixtures.
