Rodgers full of pride after Swansea show mettle needed for promotion

Brendan Rodgers, the Swansea City manager, was delighted with his side's "mental toughness" after they came back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

"We talked about the definition of mental toughness and how it's about coming back from disappointment and setbacks and not dwelling on the negatives," said Rodgers, whose team completed the astonishing turnaround courtesy of Scott Sinclair's penalty, Ashley Williams' effort and then Craig Beattie's last-minute goal. "Our mental toughness was put into question and we came up with all the answers," he added.

Dave Jones hailed his Cardiff second-half substitutes' impact after winger Chris Burke and striker Jon Parkin gave their side renewed vigour against Scunthorpe, while Jason Koumas also came on and provided the cross that culminated in Seyi Olofinjana scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win.

"The three substitutes we brought on changed the game," said Jones, whose second-placed side face Burnley at home tomorrow. "Confidence is high in the camp and it is a happy dressing room," the Cardiff manager added.

Simon Grayson expressed his delight at seeing winger Robert Snodgrass score as his Leeds side beat Bristol City 2-0. "It has been a huge week for Robert, with his first game for Scotland and now this excellent performance," said Grayson.

"[Snodgrass] is a lad who deserves everything that comes his way because he works so hard at his game. In the 92nd minute he was still closing down Bristol City's full-back and playing his part." Max Gradel also scored as Leeds extended their unbeaten run to five games.

After Leicester City secured a convincing 2-0 victory over local rivals Derby County, manager Sven Goran-Eriksson was thrilled with his team's debutant, Ricardo. "[He's] an experienced goalkeeper with over 70 caps for Portugal," Eriksson said. "He is comfortable on the ball and enables us to break immediately and from a defensive position."

"Matt [Oakley] was also excellent," the former England manager said of the recalled captain, who faced his old club. "[Matt] is a good talker and a leader and we need that. He has worked hard to get back in the team."
