Jose Mourinho makes winning start at Old Trafford as Manchester United boss welcomes Pele to his 'new house'

If there was any doubt over who was running Manchester United these days, then Jose Mourinho has put an end to it through the medium of Instagram.

The United manager attended his new “house” on Sunday after attending the Soccer Aid charity match at Old Trafford, having coached the England team during the week. Just nine days after being announced as United manager, Mourinho was all smiles as he welcomed the likes of Ronaldinho, Cafu and Jamie Carragher to United’s stadium, but it was the arrival of Brazil legend Pele that got Mourinho really excited.

The Portuguese has wasted little time in getting his feet under the table at United, with transfer plans well under way and certain members of the current squad facing the exit door due to not featuring in Mourinho’s plans.

And that former Chelsea manager is so comfortable at his new club, he’s already calling Old Trafford “home”.

Posting a picture of himself with Pele on his new Instagram account – which was activated the same day as his announcement as United manager – Mourinho said: “An honour to host Pele at my new house.”

Mourinho also did his bit to try and help raise funds through the Soccer Aid match, although he was not in the Old Trafford dugout in order to reduce the impact that his attendance at the game had on overshadowing the event.

Mourinho’s England side, which in his absence was managed by Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce and singer Robbie Williams, made it a winning start for ‘The Special One’ at Old Trafford courtesy of a 3-2 victory over a Rest of the World side.

Goals from The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright and Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe cancelled out a double from Dimitar Berbatov, and in typical England fashion they finished with 10 men after Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard was sent-off for a second bookable offence.
