Solskjaer will follow in Ferguson's footsteps and transform team

Eric Bailly was carried off on a stretched during Manchester United‘s pre-season friendly against Tottenham in Shanghai, with fears the centre-back could face another long period on the sidelines.

The brittle defender has seen his time in Manchester blighted by a spate of serious injuries and fell to the floor in initially innocuous fashion before his teammates urged the medical staff to come onto the pitch.

The blow will come to the benefit of Leicester City, who have stood firm on their £80m asking price for Harry Maguire, with United only just short of the Foxes’ evaluation.

If Bailly is set to miss a significant portion of the start to the Premier League season, it’s likely that the agreement to pay a world record fee for the defender will be finalised quicker, in a saga that otherwise seemed set to continue right up until the end of the transfer window.

Manchester United took an early lead in the friendly thanks to a cute finish from Anthony Martial, before Lucas Moura equalised with a deflected effort from the edge of the box at the beginning of the second half. You can follow all the action here!
