Tottenham players 'not distracted' by ongoing transfer speculation around Gareth Bale and Willian

Spurs have been among the busiest sides in the transfer market - with their star player set for Real Madrid

Andre Villas-Boas insists his players will be in the right frame of mind for Sunday's game against Swansea despite the constant transfer speculation surrounding the club.

Spurs are planning for life after Gareth Bale after it emerged that the triple player of the year is closing in on his world-record transfer to Real Madrid.

The London club have already broken their transfer record twice this summer in a spending spree that has seen four new players arrive at White Hart Lane, and Villas-Boas says more signings are likely.

Spurs hope to sign Erik Lamela and Willian despite interest in the latter from Chelsea, and the club have also been linked with Fabio Coentrao, Vlad Chiriches and Croatian youngster Alen Halilovic.

Villas-Boas irked a number of Chelsea players when he made wholesale changes at Stamford Bridge, but he insists it will be a different story at Spurs.

"I don't think the team will be distracted by the transfers," the Tottenham manager said.

"What we've done so far has been great activity in the transfer window, we managed to bring in almost all the players that we want and will continue to work to strengthen the squad.

"The players look very determined to achieve our objectives this season because of last season's tally of points and not being able to achieve it.

"We will continue to be focused on our objectives, so we transfer back to the Premier League against Swansea which is extremely important."

When Spurs hosted Swansea last season they struggled without Bale, who missed the match through injury.

The Londoners had to rely on a Jan Vertonghen goal late in the second half to seal a 1-0 victory.

This current Tottenham squad appears much better-equipped to cope without the Welshman, however.

All four summer signings impressed in Thursday's 5-0 win over Dinamo Tbilisi while Andros Townsend and Danny Rose, who were both sent out on loan last season, have excelled since their return.

Villas-Boas has been pleased with how his new-look team has gelled so far after two wins from two matches.

"It's just the beginning, so for the team to perform like that was something very good," the Portuguese said.

"Considering the trip, the time difference and our efforts against Palace, I'm extremely pleased.

"The body is tired but the mind is happy, absolutely."

The five-and-a-half-hour journey back to London will hardly make for ideal preparation for Sunday's game - particularly as Swansea played at home in their Europa League play-off - but Villas-Boas says his team will be fit for the visit of Michael Laudrup's side, who began their season with a 4-1 home defeat to Manchester United.

"We didn't use excuses when we played in the league after a European game last season and this is part of the philosophy on how to embrace this competition," the 35-year-old added.

"It is a long trip but we have enough time to recover. We train 3pm on Friday but I think we will be fresh for Swansea."

Aaron Lennon, Sandro, Vertonghen and Jermain Defoe were all rested for the trip to the Georgian capital but are expected to be fit for Sunday.

Swansea bounced back from their opening-day thrashing against Manchester United by beating Petrolul Ploiesti 5-1 in the Europa League and Villas-Boas expects the Welshmen to be up for Sunday's game.

The Spurs boss added: "We struggled against Swansea at home. We created some chances but it was very hard for us and we expect the same type of game.

"They played at home in the Europa League and the result against Manchester United gives them motivation. It can be a very tight encounter."
