Wesley Sneijder has lost his chance to play at Wembley tonight, but he has announced himself as eager to play permanently in England with a possible move to Manchester United.

The Internazionale playmaker, a long-standing transfer target of Sir Alex Ferguson, replied when asked if he would be keen to move to United: "Yes, but Manchester United haven't made an official approach yet. There have been unofficial talks, there have been contacts, but then there are always contacts. I am now an Inter player, and chances are that I will still be that come August 31. [But] there is also a chance I could leave.

"I think Inter have been very clear: if a good offer comes in, they have to let me go. They don't want to lose me but there is a chance they will let me go. If something crosses my path, I have enough time to make a decision."

Sneijder's fellow Dutchman Rafael van der Vaart earlier said of him: "Of course he would like to play here, it's the biggest league in the world." When asked if he would be playing against Sneijder this season, Van der Vaart added: "I hope not because Man U are going to be stronger."
