Boxing: Amir proves class over the distance

Amir demonstrated he is learning his craft well in the gymnasium, "sitting on" his punches and using his long legs to get better leverage with some crisp shots.

Referee Wynford Jones awarded Amir maximum points (40-36) and the Olympic silver medallist earned this tribute from the onlooking American promoter Don King: "He has potential second to none. This kid has real talent. He looks like a seasoned pro, not someone having his second professional fight."

Said Amir, who had won his first fight in just 69 seconds: "I threw everything I've got and he still stood there. All credit to him. This was the sort of workout I needed and I know the things I have to improve on. I paced myself well and will take a look at the video and see where I can improve and what I did well."
