Boxing: Klitschko says 'liar' Haye will leave no legacy if he retires

Wladimir Klitschko has launched his most scathing attack yet on David Haye in an attempt to taunt the WBA heavyweight champion into fighting before his planned retirement in October.

The pair scheduled a fight in June 2009 but Haye had to cancel due to a bad back and last week negotiations broke down for a fight in June this year after Klitschko agreed to face Dereck Chisora on 30 April.

While Haye has suggested he will retire when he turns 31 in October, Klitschko mocked the prospect of him finishing his career knowing that his biggest fight was the recent victory over Audley Harrison, who lasted just seven minutes and 53 seconds before being knocked out in November.

"He's telling everyone, 'I'm going to retire by the end of the year and I will have my legacy'. He's going to have a legacy for the Audley Harrison fight – the most exciting heavyweight fight in history," Klitschko said sarcastically.

"He has no legacy whatsoever. He has this terrible disease and he has to retire? What bullshit is that? This is total nonsense. He is playing the media. He will not retire because he's a liar, liar, liar. From the beginning to the end, he's a loser, liar. That's the truth about this man.

"David Haye is a piece of shit. He has accomplished nothing in the heavyweight division other than his stupid comments.

"This guy will eventually fight me. He will eventually fight me because everything coming out of his mouth is a lie. But if he does retire, he'll be a loser with no legacy in the heavyweight division at all."

During his career Haye has been desperate to fight either Klitschko, who is the IBF, IBO and WBO champion, or his brother Vitali, who holds the WBC belt.
