Skiing: Maze figures out way to gold at last
Tina Maze became the first Slovenian to win an Alpine skiing world championship title yesterday, riding her advantage from the first run to the gold medal in the women's giant slalom.
Maze took silver in the giant slalom at the 2009 worlds and the 2010 Olympics, and finally got a gold with a controlled second run in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, yesterday to win by 0.09sec from Federica Brignone of Italy. "I gave it all I had and it was just enough," Maze said.
