Crusaders lose Van Dijk for three months with broken jaw

The Celtic Crusaders' scrum-half and captain, Jace van Dijk, will be out for three months after breaking his jaw in two places. Batley's Danny Maun was sent of for a high tackle following the incident that did the damage in the Crusaders' 56-28 victory at the weekend and will face a disciplinary hearing next week.

The injury means that the Australian-born Dutch international will miss the Northern Rail Cup semi-final against Salford on 14 June. "I'm disappointed to be missing any games, let alone the Cup semi-final and maybe the final if we get there," Van Dijk said. He hopes to be fit for the National League One play-offs at the end of the season.

Two players make long-awaited returns from shoulder injuries in tomorrow's Super League matches. Hull KR's second-rower, Jason Netherton, is in line to return after missing 13 matches for the game at St Helens – a repeat of last weekend's Challenge Cup quarter-final.

Jamie Jones-Buchanan, who has missed nine matches with nerve damage, is back in Leeds' squad for the visit of Hull, who are without Shaun Berrigan with a knee injury.
