Jason Robinson is to lend his World Cup expertise to his original code of rugby this autumn. The dual international who left Rugby League in 2000 for a glittering Union career that included winning the 2003 World Cup, has been appointed dual code ambassador by Gillette, who will sponsor England in the Rugby League World Cup in Australia.

England coach Tony Smith has already made plans to consult him. "I've told him I want to pick his brains," he said. "It might cost me a lunch, but it has to be worthwhile after all the experience he has had."

Robinson will also be involved in coaching sessions for players at junior clubs. "Rugby League for me is where it all started," he said. "It's nice to be putting something back into the game."
