Olympic gold medallist Roman Hagara takes a 15-point lead into the final day of the Extreme Sailing Series opening 2013 regatta in Oman.

As the Austrian in Red Bull notched up four wins from seven races British Olympian Leigh McMillan and his local crew on The Wave suffered in the very light conditions and, although still second, have only a three-point cushion over Switzerland’s Ernesto Bertarelli in Alinghi.

Nick Dempsey, silver medallist last August in the windsurfer class at Weymouth, has won the 2013 world championship in Buzios, Brazil. Bryony Shaw, bronze medallist at the 2008 Olympics in China, took silver in the women’s division.

Three British sailor members of the Artemis Offshore Academy, Jack Bouttell, Ed Hill, and Henry Bomby are among 12 starters from La Grande Motte of the three-stage ICOM Cup Mediterranée.
