The first of the quarter-finals kicks off at the home of English rugby as Pool B winners South Africa take on Pool A runners-up Wales.

It’s a big game for…

Bryan Habana: The stalwart of the South African side is on the verge of topping the try-scoring record of the World Cup. One more would give him the record, besting the record set by Jonah Lomu. Currently they are both on 15.

Teams...

South Africa: Willie Le Roux; JP Pietersen, Jesse Kriel, Damian de Allende, Bryan Habana; Handre Pollard, Fourie Du Preez; Duane Vermeulen, Schalk Burger, Francois Louw; Lood de Jager, Eben Etzebeth; Frans Malherbe, Bismarck du Plessis, Tendai Mtawarira.

Replacements: Adriaan Strauss, Trevor Nyakane, Jannie Du Plessis, Pieter Steph du Toit, Willem Alberts, Ruan Pienaar, Patrick Lambie, Jan Serfontein.

Wales: Gareth Anscombe; Alex Cuthbert, Tyler Morgan, Jamie Roberts, George North; Dan Biggar, Gareth Davies; Taulupe Faletau, Sam Warburton, Dan Lydiate; Alun Wyn Jones, Luke Charteris; Samson Lee, Scott Baldwin, Gethin Jenkins.

Replacements: Ken Owens, Paul James, Tomas Francis, Bradley Davies, Justin Tipuric, Lloyd Williams, Rhys Priestland, James Hook.

Best stat…

320: This is the number of minutes Gareth Davies, Francois Louw and Bryan Habana have played during the pool stages. They are the only three players who have played every minute of their teams campaigns to date.

Remember when…

Wales nearly beat South Africa? In 2014, South Africa were hosting Wales in the summer tour and the Welsh losing streak was ever extending. In the second test, a far closer affair than the previous match, Wales nearly got the win but for a dangerous challenge by Liam Williams. The full back smashed into Cornal Hendricks and gave away a penalty try.

Player to watch…

Damian de Allende: The South African centre has managed to beat more defenders than any other player in the tournament with 18. Twice as many as the nearest Welshman (Gareth Davies – 9) he may be the difference between victory and defeat.

Past three-meetings…

Wales 12 South Africa 6. Autumn Internationals 2014

South Africa 31 (Hendricks, Le Roux, Penalty try) – Wales 30 (Roberts, Cuthbert, Owens) Summer Internationals 2014

South Africa 38 (Vermeulen, Habana, Le Roux, Hendricks) – Wales 16 (Cuthbert) Summer Internationals 2014
