Wales wing Shane Williams says he plans to retire from international rugby after his country's next match against Australia in December.

Williams had floated the idea of quitting after the World Cup in New Zealand this month but has now decided to make himself available for the 3 December friendly in Cardiff so that he can finish his international career on home soil.

The 34-year-old said: "I will treat it in the same way I have always treated Wales games, but it will be a sad day for me. I'll be devastated."

Williams scored three tries at the World Cup to take his tally to 57 in 86 appearances for Wales, helping his team to fourth place. AP
