iPhone SE price: How much is Apple's new handset going to cost?

Apple tends to keep the new phones at roughly the same prices as before, simply slotting the new phone in at its old prices

Apple is likely to sell the new iPhone SE at similar prices to the iPhone 5, according to the new report.

The new, small phone will slot into Apple’s line-up as the cheapest of the current phones, according to 9to5mac. It will see the 5s move out of Apple’s product range

That will probably mean that prices will start around £400 or $450, according to reports. They will go up from there according to the storage capacity of the model.

The new phone will be offered in 16GB and 64GB configurations, according to the same report. That means that Apple will be upgrading the bigger version from 32GB as is found on the most expensive iPhone 5s — and it isn’t clear whether there will be any boost in price at the same time.

When the iPhone SE comes out, Apple’s current line-up will be made up of the iPhone SE, the iPhone 6 and the 6s, according to the rumours.

The company tends to keep three phones in its current line-up — when the new flagship model arrives, it takes its place within that ladder and the rest move around. Usually each new release takes a place at the top of that structure, though the company changed that with the cheaper iPhone 5C and again with the expected iPhone SE.

The new, 4-inch phone is expected to be the headline release of Apple’s March event. As well as the new phone, the company is expected to reveal a new iPad, updated Apple Watch accessories and potentially new software.
