Theragun, the massage gun company that has featured in viral Instagram videos as well as on the sidelines of sports matches, has changed its name and released new products.

The company will now be known as Therabody, though the massage guns themselves will keep the same name.

Alongside the announcement, the company released a host of new "percussive massage" products that offer

The Theragun have featured in a host of Instagram videos, and has been seen being used on sports stars. A number of companies offer the products, including HyperIce and TimTam, which can cost hundreds of dollars, though Theragun has arguably become the most well-known.

The new products include the most expensive of the Theragun products, the Pro, which costs £549 and is intended for professionals. Four other new guns include a much smaller version and a "smart vibrating foam roller" for the slightly more traditional recovery technique.

Proponents argue that using the gadgets to hit the muscles with rapid massage can help warm them up before exercise and induce relaxation afterwards. While some scientific studies have suggested that the technique can help with performance and recovery, research remains limited.

A new app, also named Therabody, will come alongside the new products and aims to show people how to better use the massage guns.
