If you feel you need more Stephen Fry in your life, the actor, screenwriter, author, playwright, journalist, poet, comedian, presenter, director, activist, and board member of Norwich City Football Club has launched possibly the world’s most self-regarding app.

Virtually Stephen Fry, which he tweeted to his almost six million followers yesterday, “lets Stephen broadcast himself directly to your pocket, keeping you up to date with the goings-on of the actual Stephen Fry”. How could I resist?

Developed by Chris Chapman, a Spitting Image puppeteer turned boss of Headcast Lab, the app allows Fry to record 60-second “visual tweets” on his phone. He broadcasts them via the app, which features an automatically-animated virtual Fry cartoon.

Those who care also to touch the screen can make Fry giggle or issue a Melchett “baah”.

Early posts include a less-than riveting dispatch from the QI studio (it’s early days). Such is the saturation of media by the Fry brand that when one fan suggested on Twitter he lend his voice to car sat-navs, Fry replied: “It is available actually. TomTom and Garmin...”

Does he ever go on holiday?
