Fight breaks out between ‘drunk couple’ on airport shuttle bus

A 'drunk' couple have been filmed fighting each other on an airport shuttle bus in Alicante.

The pair, believed to be a new couple, had just arrived on a Ryanair flight from Birmingham when they were seen throwing punches at each other while rolling around on the floor of the shuttle bus.

Footage shows other bus passengers shouting “stop” as they continue to fight each other.

Witnesses to the fight claim the woman called the man a “b*****d”, while the man is believed to have called the woman a “psycho b***h”.

The pair are understood to have been separated and locked on the shuttle bus outside the terminal to wait for police to arrive.

A fellow passenger onboard the Ryanair flight from Birmingham called the incident “shocking and mortifying”.

She added: “I just thought to myself – ‘oh, here we go, typical Brits abroad’!

“We think that they had gotten drunk on the flight over to Alicante, and then things had just exploded on the shuttle bus.

“I think they were having a domestic that got so heated it became violent, and that one of them just touched a nerve – I think she lashed out first.

“We have no idea what they’d argued about, but when it kicked off things escalated so quickly we couldn’t imagine what had been said.

“At various points, one or the other was sat on top of the other punching them in the head, and people intervened to break it off.

“I do feel bad for some of the passengers who were sat on the shuttle bus, because everyone was tired and wanting to sleep.”

It’s not the first time a fight has broken out during a flight.

Earlier this month, a plane was forced to make an emergency landing to eject seven passengers following a mid-air fight between members of a stag-do party and another group of men, which involved one man “spitting” at a woman.

The easyJet flight from Manchester to Tenerife had to divert to Portugal when a brawl between two groups of men broke out around two hours after take-off.

According to witnesses, a group of four male passengers started punching each other at the back of the plane.

It comes as the number of drunk and disruptive passengers arrested on planes at UK airports fell by 25 per cent last year, data from a Freedom of Information request revealed.

Some 87 travellers were arrested on planes from April 2018 to April 2019, compared to 117 during the same period the previous year.

At Gatwick and Glasgow airports, the number of arrests almost halved year-on-year.

However, 245 people were arrested on suspicion of being drunk at an airport between 1 April 2017 and 31 March 2019, leading to renewed calls for further restrictions on alcohol sales. UK’s busiest airport, Heathrow, recorded the highest number of arrests in that time (103).
