Watch: 80 mistreated donkeys rescued from Wales have safe home for Christmas

Dozens of donkeys have a safe home for Christmas this year after they were rescued from poor conditions at a farm in Wales.

The equines have now been given a haven The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon, after they were signed into its care.

Footage here shows the terrible conditions the animals were found in at the Welsh farm.

The rescue, which took place during the Covid pandemic in February 2021, was the largest the sanctuary had assisted with, taking 72 donkeys in one go including 20 pregnant mares.

Years of legal proceedings culminated in the transfer of legal ownership to The Donkey Sanctuary this week.
