Tents ‘perfectly acceptable’ accommodation to house migrants, Tory MP says

A Tory MP has said he has “no issue” with housing migrants and asylum seekers in tents or portacabins as long as they are moved to a “safe third country” after 28 days.

Jonathan Gullis made the comments in the House of Commons on Tuesday 28 March.

“I personally have no issue with portacabins or tents being used at all, this is still perfectly acceptable accommodation that can be used as a short-term interim measure,” he said.

He went on to describe Rwanda as a “perfectly safe” country to send migrants to.
